The 2021 Subaru Forester is the top model in the lineup again. See how the Forester is speeding up and what's coming next.
Subaru of America achieved its best-ever March and the second-best month ever in the Camden, N.J. automaker's history. At the top of the all-wheel-drive lineup is the 2021 Subaru Forester leading the way with its best March ever and best month ever. Forester is first again with 21,005 vehicle sales, an increase of 123 percent compared to March 2020 when the COVID pandemic shut down retailers.
The Forester compact SUV has been leading in 2021 with 47,694 units sold, an increase of 22.0 percent over the first quarter in 2020. The 2021 Subaru Outback is second in the lineup in March, with 17,053 models delivered to customers, an increase of 99.0 percent in March. Outback has 41,503 vehicle sales in quarter one, up 27.3 percent year-to-date.

The hot 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is third in total sales with 14,065 models delivered to customers in March, up an impressive 175.9 percent over March 2020. The newly-refreshed Crosstrek is up 63.5 percent year-to-date, with 35,187 models delivered in 2021.
What is next for the 2022 Subaru Forester?
The Subaru Forester is the flagship model for Subaru Corporation globally and Subaru of America. Forester received a complete remodel in 2019, and the fifth-generation 2022 Forester is year four of the compact SUVs model life cycle when it will get new updates.

The 2022 Forester will receive a refresh with some exterior design, drivetrain, and safety changes. Subaru will also give the compact SUV some interior improvements to upgrade its appearance, and recent reports say the 2022 Forester could get a new turbocharged engine. We know from Subaru of New England news sources that an all-new 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness trim is coming this year. The more rugged Forester trim will get new adventure-ready upgrades. Forester Wilderness will feature an advanced dual function X-Mode, elevated 9.5-inch ground clearance, 17-inch Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires, standard front skid plate, an upgraded suspension, and new body cladding.
The 2021 Subaru Forester is speeding up with record sales in March before launching the refreshed 2022 Forester models. The question is, will Forester get a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine? Stay tuned.
