According to a new study, consumers are talking about the 2021 Subaru Outback more than any wagon/crossover in America. A report from Automotive News data lists says the U.S. Automotive Social Intelligence Update, powered by Linkfluence, reveals what consumers say in their social media conversations about vehicle makes and models.
Subaru is the top brand, and the 2021 Subaru Outback is the number one talked about nameplate and has the most positive sentiment in the wagon/crossover segment. The Outback (25 percent of social media volume) ranks ahead of the Audi RS6 (21%), Mercedes-Benz E-Class (15%), Porsche Panamera (14%), and the Volvo V60 (12%) wagons.
Consumers can only get a few wagons in North America, and the 2021 Subaru Outback is the only one still made in the U.S. (Lafayette, Indiana). The only other wagons still available are the Audi A4/A6 Allroad, Audi RS6 ($45,645 / $66,945), Volvo V60/V90 ($42,590 / $68,940), Mini Clubman ($30,750), Mercedes-Benz E-Class ($68,595), Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo ($99,350), and Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, if you can afford its $263,750 price tag.
The Outback is number one in social media conversations, and it’s the best-selling wagon in America. Subaru of America sold 153,294 Outback nameplates in 2020, a challenging year. 2021 Outback wagon sales are not slowing down. In January, Subaru delivered 11,784 Outback models to customers, up 3.6 percent from January 2020.

The SUV-Alternative Outback is talked about most because of Subaru’s loyal following, its affordability, and buyers with active lifestyles use it for more than just transportation. The wagon's "go-anywhere attitude also makes it attractive for converting it into a mini camper. And the social conversations go beyond the wagon and include the environment.
Subaru is making a positive impact in the world and customers connect with the causes the Camden, N.J. automaker are involved in. Subaru has formed partnerships with organizations like the National Park Service to clean up the environment. Customers also care about keeping our National Parks clean and recycling waste.
The Outback offers standard all-wheel-drive, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, gets top safety crash scores, and has the utility and cargo-carrying capability of an SUV, all with a car-like ride.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Outback?
The 2021 Outback comes in seven trim levels, base $27,845, Premium ($30,095), Limited ($34,645), Onyx Edition XT ($36,195), Limited XT ($38,545), Touring ($39,045), and Touring XT ($40,995). Pricing includes $1,050 destination.
The other Subaru most talked about in social conversations is the 2021 Crosstrek small SUV. According to the AN report, Subaru is the number two brand in positive sentiment in the competitive hatchback segment, which the Crosstrek resides. Crosstrek has 25 percent of the conversations on social media, only behind the Honda Civic with 26 percent.
Consumers drive more social media conversations about the 2021 Subaru Outback than any wagon in America. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is the number two small hatchback in positive consumer sentiment.
