Is the 2021 Subaru Impreza a good compact car? A new report ranks Impreza as one of the seven best new cars under $25,000.
If you can’t afford an SUV but still need an all-wheel-drive vehicle, the 2021 Subaru Impreza could be a good choice for shoppers. Consumer Reports (by subscription) ranked Impreza among the seven best new vehicles under $25,000. CR says Impreza is safe, reliable, and fuel-efficient.
CR ranks the 2021 Subaru Impreza among the seven best, along with the Honda Insight, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra, and Honda Civic. The Impreza comes standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, while the compact cars above charge extra for it if it’s available.
Consumer Reports says, “The Impreza wows us most with its quiet cabin, roominess, and user-friendly controls, and its ride comfort puts some luxury cars to shame. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is mated to an unobtrusive, continuously variable transmission. We got 30 mpg overall with our sedan, commendable given the standard all-wheel drive.”
CR also ranked Impreza one of the six compact cars with the roomiest and most comfortable interiors. The Impreza comes in sedan and hatchback body styles. The hatchback offers 20.8 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, and folding them down opens up 55.3 cubic feet.
What is the price of the 2021 Subaru Impreza?
The 2021 Impreza comes in four trim levels for customers. The eight different models come in base sedan ($19,720), base hatchback ($20,220) Premium sedan ($23,120), Premium hatchback ($23,620), Sport sedan ($24,520), Sport hatchback ($23,920), Limited sedan ($26,820), and Limited hatchback ($27,320). Destination and delivery ($925) are included in the prices above.
If you can wait, the 2021 Subaru Impreza is in the last year of its model cycle and due to receive a complete remodel for the 2022 model year.
A complete redesign is coming in 2022 for the compact sedan and hatchback models. The next-generation 2022 Subaru Impreza will come with the new EyeSight X driver-assist safety technology. It could get a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, and Subaru will likely drop the manual transmission in the compact car.
Subaru is fazing out the manual transmission, so all trims will come equipped with standard EyeSight driver-assist safety technology. Torque News will bring the 2022 Subaru Impreza model change information as soon as it’s available.
