The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness is about to make its reveal. Subaru announced an online reveal. Check out the details here.

Subaru announced via its social media pages they will reveal the all-new 2022 Forester Wilderness online on September 2, at 9 AM Eastern time. The Camden, N.J. will unveil the new rugged Forester Wilderness following the 2022 Outback Wilderness sub-brand trim launch.

Both models are part of the Subaru Wilderness sub-brand, including the next-generation Crosstrek Wilderness coming spring of 2023.

The 2022 Forester gets a refresh with new exterior upgrades. The Wilderness trim will feature new front styling and receive a new front fascia outside (headlights, bumper, hexagon grille).

The new Forester Wilderness will feature an advanced dual function X-Mode, elevated 9.5-inch ground clearance, standard front, and rear skid plates, and an upgraded suspension. The rugged, compact SUV will wear 17-inch Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires and come with a full-size spare tire.

The new Forester will also feature a modified Lineartronic CVT automatic (Continuously Variable Transmission) and an upgraded rear differential with a final drive ratio of 4.44:1.

Unfortunately, the Forester Wilderness will only come with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Boxer engine like the standard models. The EPA leaked the 2022 Forester's fuel mileage information earlier this month, showing Wilderness with a 2.5-liter engine. The EPA has recently pulled the info down.

The Forester's 2.5-liter naturally aspirated Boxer engine produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Fans wanted the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine that powers the all-new 2022 Outback Wilderness producing 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

The additional power would have made the new Forester Wilderness a more capable vehicle for hauling gear and the vehicle's extra weight up a high mountain pass to get outdoor enthusiasts further away.

Subaru says, "This all-new Subaru Wilderness model is ready to push your adventures into uncharted territory, featuring increased ground clearance, upgraded off-road capability, and more rugged style."

Subaru of America will uncover the all-new 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness trim on September 2, 2021, at 9 AM Eastern Standard Time. Stay tuned to Torque News for the complete details and model specs. You can sign up to see its world premiere here.

I'm honestly super excited. That new diff should make up for a lot of the CVT's shortcomings. Wondering what kind of wheel will fit in there(losing some of the gains from the diff) without an additional lift? I'm still happy with my 06 that's been permanently turned into a camper and I look forward to replacing it once I can get one that's a little beat up
