Subaru just held its retailer meetings and new information surfaces about an all-new Forester-size SUV. See why U.S. customers could get one soon.
An all-new Subaru SUV/crossover could be coming for customers in the U.S. soon. Subaru of America just finished its retailer meetings, and new information surfaces about an all-new SUV. Patrick Wergin, chairman of the Subaru National Retailer Advisory Board, spoke with Automotive News about its new vehicle launches.
When asked what dealers expect in terms of new products this year, Wergin eluded to the new Outback and Forester Wilderness edition models coming this year. He says, "We have a new product that is coming. We're going to put a little splash in the market when it comes out. But we have a new product that we're excited about that will help us in the future."

Subaru Corporation prioritizes the U.S. market because it represents about 66 percent of its global sales. Subaru retailers asked for a new 3-Row SUV to replace the Tribeca, and Subaru Corporation built one for the North American customer.
Retailers in North America asked for a turbocharged Outback XT, and Subaru built the new engine for North American customers only. No other market gets the Outback 2.4-liter turbocharged XT model.
When asked if there are additional products retailers would like to have or any that they think are missing from the lineup, Wergin said they have asked for a new crossover. "We'd like to have another crossover vehicle because Subaru has a great story and a great proposition in that segment [small all-wheel-drive SUVs]. We're looking for some new entries as crossovers in the future."
Subaru Corporation CEO Tomomi Nakamura also recently told AN, Subaru may bring an all-new all-wheel-drive model about the size of the 2021 Forester. He says, "If the crossover segment keeps growing, maybe there is the possibility to have two models in that same segment. We can change their characteristics and sell them to different customers."
If Subaru retailers want an all-new SUV for their customers in the U.S., they will likely get one. The 2021 Subaru Forester is the brand's top-selling model in the U.S., and there is room for more growth in the hot small SUV segment. Nakamura is not revealing Subaru's plans but gives the nod to new models coming. Stay tuned.

They ought to consider making a pickup truck, something like what Ford has with their Maverick or Hyundai and their Santa Cruz
I get the impression the 2021
I get the impression the 2021 Forester Touring model has a version of DriverFocus which stops the car in emergencies. If this is true, and the system works, I will buy one. If not, I won't. I can't find any information about this on the Subaru website or on Torquenews. Can you help?
