Land Rover has received certification from the Vehicle Certification Agency showing the new Range Rover Evoque is one of the most environmentally friendly vehicles on the planet.
Land Rover has received certification from the VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) for a recently completed 'cradle-to-grave' study which analyzes the environmental impact of its new Range Rover Evoque. The certification makes Land Rover one of a few auto manufacturers to have completed an environmental impact study on one of their vehicles. The Range Rover Evoque was studied for its impact on the environment through a lifetime of customer use, to the end of it’s useful life and disposal.
The VCA reports that the Range Rover Evoque is one of the most efficiently produced vehicles that Land Rover or any other carmaker manufactures. The processes that go into manufacturing the Evoque include the use of recycled materials, lightweight components and stop start technology.
Land Rover uses unique processes to build the Evoque
The popular new Evoque uses a unique paint manufacturing process that reduces paint consumption and solvent emissions. Additionally, the ventilation systems in body construction have been rationalized, giving a 25 percent reduction in electricity consumption.
The Evoque also uses lightweight components like a tailgate that is lighter than the steel equivalent and is made with less components and therefore requires less energy to produce and improves the quality of build.
Range Rover Evoque uses recycled materials
Land Rover says the Evoque uses recycled materials throughout the vehicle that add up to the equivalent of reusing a thousand 500ml plastic bottles. Many types of recycled materials are used in interior and exterior moldings, engine bay components and interior fabrics.
The Morzine material used on the headliner and upper pillars is made from 100 percent recycled polymer obtained from plastic bottles and fibers. This results in a 66 percent less energy use in production and reduces the carbon footprint by 55 percent compared with its virgin equivalent.
Evoque ranks as most appealing SUV
In a recent J.D. Power Appealing Study, the new Evoque crossover ranked the most appealing in the Entry Premium Crossover SUV segment. "The J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study simply indicates how much your customers like their vehicles’ design, performance and features, and clearly our customers are quite smitten," says Andy Goss, President of Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC.
Land Rover is not only building vehicles that are appealing to consumers, but they are building them efficiently which makes the Range Rover Evoque one of the most environmentally friendly vehicles on the planet.
