The all-new 2016 BMW M2 will finally make its world reveal at NAIAS. What other performance model makes its global debut in Detroit?
The pictures and videos of the new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe have been seen since it was announced back in October, but it hasn’t made its official reveal until now. The M2 will make its global debut at the Detroit Auto Show January 11 and will be the BMW model that gets most of the attention. It’s the newest M model from BMW M GmbH and the highly anticipated performance coupe will be on BMW’s stand at the North American International Auto Show.
The new M2 won’t be the only performance model making its world debut. BMW is getting ready for their 100th anniversary and will reveal two performance models at NAIAS to celebrate the big event. It’s in Detroit where BMW chose to uncover the new BMW M2 and the BMW X4 M40i. The X4 M40i will be the hottest Sports Activity Coupe with best-in-segment acceleration.
BMW will also feature the new, BMW X1, BMW 7 Series, the plug-in hybrid BMW 330e, the high-performance BMW i8 and the all-electric BMW i3 among other BMW models at the BMW Stand in Detroit from January 11-24. But it will be the M2 that gets most of the attention at the BMW Stand. The highly anticipated performance coupe is likely going to be the best-selling M model in the stable when it hits showrooms next spring.
The M2 comes with impressive performance from the new TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter powerplant. BMW M GmbH engineers drew on years of experience and the M2 produces more power than its predecessor, the BMW 1 M Coupe. The M2 comes track-ready from the factory in Leipzig and performance enthusiasts won’t need to add additional modifications to keep it controlled at high speeds.
The M2 comes with good genes and is one of the best new cars from BMW in years. It’s the spiritual successor to the iconic BMW 2002 Turbo and will likely be more popular than the classic BMW 1 Series M Coupe that ’s worth more today than when it was new. The 2016 BMW M2 makes its global debut on January 11 in Detroit and will be available in U.S. showrooms in spring 2016. BMW will announce pricing soon. Stay tuned.
