Bruno Spengler drives the BMW M2 Coupe in South Africa and shows journalists how the sports car is meant to be driven.
What better way to show off the new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe at the press preview of the BMW M2 in South Africa, than to let BMW DTM driver Bruno Spengler do it at the track. BMW Motorsports brought their 2012 DTM Drivers' Champion, Bruno Spengler to SA to show just what the M2 is capable of on the track.
You can’t really experience this newest M performance car on the street. That’s why BMW M let their champion driver take the SA journalists for high-speed runs at the track. The French-born Canadian BMW factory racing driver made a guest appearance at the press preview of the BMW M2 Coupe in South Africa shortly before the DTM season gets underway on May 6 in Hockenheim (DE).
Spengler took the around 60 journalists as passengers as he powered the 365hp M2 at a racetrack on the premises of the Motor Museum in Franschhoek (ZA). The plan was to show just how dynamically you can drive the new BMW M2 Coupe in a track setting. You can bet the journalists in SA came away impressed as Bruno Spengler smoked the tires and let the 2016 BMW M2 loose in it’s natural environment.
When the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six is mated to the optional M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) and with the launch control activated, the new BMW M2 sprints from 0-60 mph in a quick 4.2 seconds (4.4 s with the six-speed manual gearbox). The top speed of the all-new BMW M2 is electronically limited to 155 mph. The all-new 2016 BMW M2 is available in BMW showrooms now if you can find one.
