Audi AG sales in China has surpassed 400,000 units for first time in 2012 in large part due to the new luxury 2013 A8/S8 sales.
If you don’t think China is important to the auto industry, just ask Audi AG. China is the largest and fastest growing auto market in the world and automakers are gaining sales in the huge Asian country. Audi AG has announced record sales in China last year and the Chinese love the Audi brand and especially the new A8/S8 luxury sedan. Overall Audi deliveries in China and Hong Kong exceeded the 400,000 mark for the first time in 2012, which is a 29.6 percent increase compared to 2011.
“In the year 2012, we continued the success story in our biggest sales market,” stated Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing. “With this record we have increased our lead over the competition, further strengthening our number one position in the premium segment in China.” The company set a new sales record for the A4 L, A6 L and Q5 model series built in Changchun: 322,700 vehicles for a year-on-year increase of 28.1 percent.
The biggest gain seen by the new A8/S8
The Audi brand is doing well across their entire model lineup with the Q5, A6, and A4 all seeing sales gains. All three models made in China lead their respective market segments. The Audi Q7 was particularly successful with 21,360 units sold (up 10 percent), and the Q3 SUV, available since mid-2012, sold a total of 2,145 units. But the biggest gain was seen by the Audi A8/S8 with 18,857 vehicles delivered (up 51.7 percent). Customers have responded positively to the powerful sedan.
The all-new 2013 Audi S8 is particularly popular with the Chinese and they love the power of the luxury sedan. The new S8 features an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine that pumps out 520 horsepower. It also features a sport air-suspension high performance brake system and other high-performance design elements.
The Chinese love the power of the S8
The 2013 Audi S8 is the most powerful sedan in Audi’s history and the Chinese are enthralled by the power of the 4.0-liter twin turbo engine. The super S8 sedan allows the driver to take an ordinary moment and transform it into a heightened experience. Audi claims the all-new 2013 Audi S8 will “Heighten every Moment.” The Chinese seem to be taken by the new Audi S8 and are buying the luxury sedan faster than any other.
The new Audi S8 will sprint from 0-62 mph in just 4.2 seconds and has a governed top speed of 155. The 2013 model delivers fifteen percent more power than the outgoing S8 V10. Audi says the new 2013 S8 is “a vehicle engineered for performance, but wild enough for any imagination.” The new S8 has definitely caught the attention and imagination of the Chinese. It’s hard to argue with their excitement for that level of performance and driving pleasure. The 2013 Audi S8 could be the finest high-performance sedan on the planet. It will give any driver on the planet a heightened level of excitement.
Audi is expanding in China
Audi set up shop in China 25 years ago, but has significantly expanded the dealer network throughout the country. The number of dealerships was increased by 60 to approximately 290 in more than 130 cities – averaging more than one new opening every week. Audi says further new market launches are planned of the locally produced Audi Q3. At the end of this year, production of the new Q3 will begin at a new site in Foshan in southern China. Audi understands the importance of the China market and has given the Chinese a luxury sedan in the new 2013 A8/S8 that has captured their attention and imagination.
