Five auto brands dominate the most popular cars in the U.S., but Honda is the overall winner with 2 cars leading all others. See why the Honda Accord and Civic top all other cars.
Honda customers are the most loyal car owners in the U.S., and a new study from Insurify says the Japanese automaker has two cars that stand out among all other cars in America. They list the top-10 most popular cars by state and Honda scores the Accord sedan #1 and Honda Civic compact #2 as most popular by far in 42 percent of states.
With all the cars out there American can choose from, only 10 make the list as the most popular cars in all 50 states and it’s an amazing stat for the Honda Civic and Accord. Insurify compiled data from more than 1.6 million car insurance applications to determine which cars are driven the most. The Honda Accord is #1 in the survey, ranking as the most commonly driven car in a whopping 13 individual states.
The Honda Accord sedan ranks #1 in Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, and Colorado. It’s surprising that the Subaru Outback did not score highest in mountain states like Colorado, Oregon, and Utah.
The Honda Civic is close behind, ranking first in eight states. The #2 Honda Civic ranks highest in Arizona, California, Massachusetts, NewHampshire, Ohio, Washington, Idaho, and New Mexico.
Overall, the rankings are dominated by just five brands: Honda, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Chevrolet. Subaru has one car, the Legacy sedan, which takes the title in Vermont. Insurify says the most popular cars all have an MSRP of less than $28,000, which is likely why they sell more than all other cars. The newly-refreshed 2020 Honda Accord has a starting MSRP of $23,720.
The #2 most-popular 2020 Honda Civic sedan has a starting MSRP of $19,550 not including destination. Accord and Civic models rank in the top three selling models behind the number one selling Honda CR-V small SUV that is number one in the Honda stable.
Both the 2020 Honda Accord and 2020 Honda Civic refreshed models are available now at showrooms. With so many older Honda cars still on the road, it’s why the two models remain so popular with customers. Insurify says, “If you’re shopping for a new car, take a look at these popular models and see why your fellow Americans think so highly of them.”
