The 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO made its global debut at the Nurburgring. What new performance upgrades are coming?
The hottest Nissan GT-R was revealed at the Nurburgring just ahead of the 24-hour race in Germany. It’s getting improved performance over the outgoing model. There’s four other GT-Rs at the track but they will be running hard in the grueling race this weekend. The new 2017 GT-R NISMO is there for show. What new performance upgrades are coming?
New upgrades outside
Outside, the 2017 GT-R NISMO gets a remodeled front end. It features a freshened face highlighted by an aggressive new fascia. It gets an enlarged dark chrome “V-motion” grill to help cool the high-output 3.8-liter V6 powerplant. It still produces an impressive 600hp and 481 lb ft of torque.
It also features a reinforced hood that avoids deformation at extremely high speeds. The front bumper of the GT-R NISMO now features layers of carbon-fiber sheets carefully overlapped to achieve additional stiffness. Inside, it gets a refreshed interior like the standard GT-R you can read about here.
Performance has been improved
The performance of the all-wheel-drive GT-R NISMO has also been upgraded. It gets a new significantly reinforced body. Why difference will this make? Nissan says the changes allowed engineers to further refine the GT-R NISMO's shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers. Combined with the high-performance car's added downforce, it should have improved handling over the previous model. Nissan says 2 percent improved slalom times and superior cornering performance have already been achieved.
The potent 2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO boasts better overall balance and performance than the outgoing model. Nissan continues to improve an already impressive machine. Nissan did not release pricing or delivery dates in the US.
