As the 2015 Scion FR-S sports coupe makes its dealer launch, a new turbocharged Scion FR-S T1 Targa Top has been unveiled at the SEMA Show, and shows why the brand sorely needs a convertible. The Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S/ Toyota GT86 is a sports coupe that just begs to be a convertible model. Fans have been teased before, and here’s another example of a Scion FR-S sports coupe that has been creatively redone into a Targa Top that will likely be a big hit at SEMA this year.
Head-Turning Targa Top Scion FR-S
The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas runs from Nov. 4-7, 2014 and Scion has a big presence at this years show. Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs brings the Scion FR-S T1 turbocharged Targa Top that will definitely get fans charged up about this open-air FR-S. The unique Scion FR-S T1 features a two-tone black targa top, and custom color Azzuro California Blue, with an integrated rear spoiler. The vehicle has been lowered and rides on custom 19-inch forged wheels.

This Scion FR-S T1 turbocharged Targa Top also gets a high-mounted custom center exhaust, GReddy street turbo kit, KW coil-over suspension, Wilwood Big Brake Kit with custom nickel-plated finish and OEM Audio+ System 400 complemented by a Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX head unit.
Seventh consecutive year for Lookofsky
Jeremy Lookofsky of Cartel Customs is a seven-year veteran of SEMA and has won numerous awards. Lookofsky said, “It’s an honor being involved with Scion for the seventh consecutive year bringing design concepts to reality and setting the bar for the SEMA Show.” Lookofsky has won two Mothers design awards and SEMA fan favorite awards throughout the years. He went to say, “I’m pretty confident our FR-S will come home on a positive note as well.”

Three other FR-S sports coupes at SEMA
Three Scion media partners, Super Street, GT Channel and Speedhunters also brought custom FR-S coupes to SEMA this year. The trio went head-to-head customizing the Scion FR-S as part of the 10th annual “Scion Tuner Challenge.” They each received $15,000 to modify the FR-S coupes and “drew inspiration” from the newly-released Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0.
