Check out what the hot 2021 Subaru Crosstrek just pulled off. See why Subaru just hit a grand slam home run with the subcompact SUV.

Who knew 30 more horsepower would make such a big difference? The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek just pulled off what the subcompact SUV has never done before. It quietly went unnoticed, but the newly-refreshed Crosstrek just passed the popular Forester in monthly sales for the first time.

The Crosstrek had 14,994 sales in October, a 7.6 percent decrease over the same month in 2019, while the Forester had 14,697 sales last month, a decrease of 7.6 percent. We know Crosstrek outselling the Forester was partly due to the lack of new Forester inventory. But the Crosstrek is the brand’s new shiny star in the all-wheel-drive stable none-the-less.

Forester is still the overall sales leader for Subaru of America, with 148,779 sales, a 1.0 percent increase over last year. The Crosstrek has 91,918 sales year-to-date, the third best-selling model in the all-wheel-drive stable.

How does Crosstrek compare with Forester?

Now that the new Crosstrek Sport has arrived, the gap narrows between it and the Forester compact SUV. Read the Torque News full comparison of size, cargo, features, power, and fuel mileage differences.

Which is the best Crosstrek trim?

Subaru brings the all-new 2021 Crosstrek Sport trim with the new 2.5-liter direct-injection Boxer engine, and it’s the hot trim for customers with active lifestyles. It has 30 more horsepower over the standard 2.0-liter powerplant, and it’s just what the subcompact SUV needed.

The Sport also gets dual function X-Mode previously available only on Forester Sport and Outback XT trims. The Sport brings a new level of off-road ability to the Crosstrek lineup. Read the full dual-function X-Mode explanation here.

What is the price of the Crosstrek Sport?

The 2021 Crosstrek comes in five trim levels. The base trim is priced from $23,295, Premium ($24,345), all-new Sport ($27,545), and Limited, also with the 2.5-liter engine ($29,045). Prices include destination and delivery fee ($1,050.)

Subaru hit a grand slam home run with the newly-upgraded 2021 Crosstrek and the all-new Crosstrek Sport. Customers bought record numbers of the subcompact SUV, and it passed the popular Forester compact SUV in monthly sales for the first time. The subcompact SUV is the Camden, N.J. automaker’s new shining star.
