The 2022 Subaru Outback is arriving now, but other new models are coming slowly. See what is happening at Subaru of America and how it affects new car shoppers.
If you are looking for a 2021 or 2022 Subaru Outback, you are in luck. Subaru of America (SOA) seems to have a good supply of the Outback midsize SUV, but other models like Forester and Crosstrek are in limited supply. Subaru announced June sales, and the report is dismal except for the Outback.
Subaru delivered 16,394 Outback models to customers last month compared with 10,250 in June 2020. That's a 59.9 percent increase for the Camden, N.J. automaker when Forester was down 54.8 percent, Crosstrek minus 37.4 percent, and Ascent dropped 14.6 percent for the month.

For the quarter, Outback sales surged 55 percent to 46,116 vehicles. For the year, the Outback SUV leads the lineup up 40.6 percent in 2021.
Like many automakers, Subaru of America runs out of some new cars to sell because of the ongoing global chip shortage. But SOA has enough Outback models on its lots. The Outback is manufactured in the U.S. plant in Lafayette, Indiana. Forester and Crosstrek are shipped from the Gunma factor in Japan.
Subaru ramped up production of the Outback this spring and has an ample supply for its U.S. retailers. Some new 2022 Subaru Outback models already arrived last month. The all-new 2022 Outback Wilderness is also available now at some U.S. retailers.

The new rugged Outback Wilderness trim is the brand's new halo model designed for customers with active lifestyles. In addition, it comes off-road ready with additional upgrades. Read the Torque News full review here.
The Subaru plant in Indiana is shut down this week for its expected two-week downtime that happens yearly. The plant reopens July 12, but it shouldn't affect Outback supply.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback?
The 2022 Outback comes in eight trim levels; the base trim is priced from $27,845, Premium ($30,270), Limited ($34,720), Touring ($38,620), Onyx Edition XT ($36,270), new for 2022, Outback Wilderness ($38,120), Limited XT ($39,120), and Touring XT ($41,070). Pricing includes $1,125 destination and delivery fees.
Are there special deals on the 2022 Outback?
Subaru of America does offer no-interest financing on the remaining 2021 Outback models and a 36-month lease for $249 per month. If you opt for a 2022 year model, Subaru offers 1.9 percent financing or leases for $265 per month for 36 months. Subaru says the offers are available now through August 2, 2021.
Customers looking for a 2021 Subaru Outback or 2022 Outback SUV are in luck as Subaru of America has ample supplies. Other models are in short supply and customers may have to wait.
