Subaru released new live shots of the refreshed 2022 Forester. See what’s coming to U.S. models soon.
Subaru of America has yet to reveal the refreshed 2022 Subaru Forester, but Subaru Corporation shows more of the new features that are coming. The 2022 Forester comes with what you would expect with Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, a 2.5-liter Boxer engine with 33 highway mpg, the highest crash rating, and it rides on the new Subaru Global Platform.
What is new for the 2022 Subaru Forester?
The 2022 Forester comes with the automaker’s next-generation EyeSight driver-assist technology. Subaru announced that it has partnered with Xilinx to equip the newly-updated Forester with the vision-based ADAS system (Advanced Driver Assistance System) using stereo cameras on all four corners of the vehicle.
The leading-edge technology offers 360-degree sensing by combining the front and rear radars, and the new EyeSight X uses 3D high-precision map data with road information for each lane. Subaru aims for zero traffic fatalities by 2030 with the new system.
Motion Control A/C Temperature Adjustment
The Forester’s Driver Monitoring System adds a new gesture-controlled temperature adjustment for the air-conditioning, a new feature for Subaru that enables drivers to adjust the temperature with a simple hand gesture. Forester also gets an updated instrument panel design.
A retuned suspension
The 2022 Forester will also come with enhanced suspension and off-road technology. The compact SUV will feature retuned front springs and dampers for improved ride comfort, steering responsiveness, and handling. Subaru says the new aluminum engine mount bracket will reduce vibrations and noise inside the cabin.
Improved off-road capability
The Forester’s all-wheel-drive system gets improvements with enhanced X-Mode with the ability to automatically re-engage once the SUV speed drops to 22 mph or less, and a revised Hill Descent Control improves vehicle control speed.
When will Subaru reveal the U.S. spec 2022 Forester?
There are delays because of the global microchip shortage and production shutdowns in Japan. Subaru of America should reveal the refreshed 2022 Subaru Forester this fall. Stay tuned. Check out the new Forester video from Subaru Corporation below.

New iSight looks promising.
New iSight looks promising. Can it prevent side swiping damage moving through narrow garage openings? Will all Foresters have enhanced off road capabilities or just Wilderness? I don’t like using hand waving to adjust A/C. Did they bury its control in screen menus to save having physical knobs?
