The new 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is coming to the U.S. shores soon and will make it’s reveal at the LA Auto Show tomorrow. It’s coming at a perfect time as the small crossover market is hot with American consumers. It should be a big hit when it arrives in early 2018.
Here’s what we know. The new small crossover slots between the Outlander and the Outlander Sport in the lineup. The Eclipse Cross gets a more attractive design than its stable mates with a more dynamic profile with coupe-like lines. It will get new LED headlamps and LED taillights on the outside.
Under the hood, it will get Mitsubishi’s new 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with direct-injection. The continuously variable automatic transmission will send power to the front wheels, and all-wheel-drive will be available. Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed the power numbers but it should have more hp than their current 2.4-liter engine.
Inside, it will feature plenty to set it apart from Outlander with a premium feel. The Eclipse Cross will feature a color head up display, remote touch interface with a mouselike controller, a power panoramic sunroof and heated rear seats.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is slated to arrive in U.S. showrooms beginning in early 2018. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it should fall somewhere between the 2018 Outlander Sport ($20,295) and the 2018 Outlander ($23,795).
