The new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek is making its Russian launch. It comes fitted differently than US models with a new 1.6i trim and no manual gearbox option.
Russian consumers will get the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek (XV in Russia) fitted with an engine US buyers won’t get. The new Crosstrek comes in a new 1.6i trim with the 1.6-liter boxer engine producing 84kW (114 hp) and 150 Nm of torque (110 lb. ft of torque) that up until now, we’ve only seen in the Japan-spec Crosstrek.
The 1.6-liter engine is Multipoint sequential distributed fuel injection, whereas the available 2.0-liter is direct-injection. The new Crosstrek is fitted with the step-less Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission with a Start-Stop system. The 6-speed manual gearbox is not available in the Russian XV.
Like the new 2018 European Impreza, the compression ratio in the 1.6-liter boxer has been increased from 10.5:1 to 11.0:1, and the overall engine weight has been reduced by 14kgs. Subaru says 70 percent of the components in the port injected 1.6-liter boxer engine have been redesigned. The Russian trim 1.6-liter engine is rated at 5.7/100km city, 8.2/100km highway, and 6.6/100km combined per cycle fuel consumption.
Russia gets EyeSight for the first time
Russia has never had Subaru’s EyeSight offered in a Subaru model before now. The new Russian-spec 2018 Crosstrek will be the first Subaru model for the Russian and Belarusian markets equipped with the driver assistance system.
All new Crosstreks will come standard with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, warning of leaving the occupied lane and approaching the marking, as well as active traffic control along the lane. The base 1.6i trim with EyeSight also includes LED lights and daytime running lights, heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, rear-view camera, and roof rails.
The next-generation Subaru Crosstrek (XV in global markets) was first unveiled in Europe at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, and it gets significant changes underneath that enhances safety, ride comfort, and agility. It rides on the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP) that all next-generation Subarus will adopt in the future.
The Russian-Spec 2018 Subaru XV (Crosstrek) makes its dealer launch in 1.6i and 2.0i trim next month. The XV 1.6i with EyeSight has a starting price of 1,869,900 rubles. Subaru will begin sales of the new generation Subaru XV crossover in Russia on October 25, 2017.
