Subaru Cars Sell Quickest - Forester, Crosstrek Sell Twice As Fast As The Average New Car

A new report says Subaru vehicles sell faster than any other brand, and the 2020 Subaru Forester and Crosstrek are one of the top 12 fastest-selling new cars. See what it means for customers.

It’s a great list to be on for Subaru, but it may not be the best for customers looking for a new all-wheel-drive SUV. A new report from iSeeCars reveals the Subaru brand has the fastest-selling new cars of any automaker. And the 2020 Forester compact SUV and 2020 Crosstrek subcompact SUV are two of the fastest-selling new cars.

Both Subaru models sell twice as fast as the average new car putting them in the top twelve fastest-selling cars in America. The Subaru Crosstrek is now one of the hardest to find new cars for small SUV buyers. It takes the average new car about 97 days to sell, while the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek sells in just 44.7 days and the 2020 Subaru Forester isn’t far behind taking 47.3 days to move off retailer’s lots.

If you have tried to purchase a 2020 Subaru Forester, Crosstrek, or Outback all-wheel-drive model, it’s hard to find the exact color and trim you want because all of Subaru’s vehicles are selling quickly, and especially the SUVs. It takes just 56.1 days to sell a Subaru vehicle where the average for all new cars takes 96.9 days.

When you combine the car’s popularity with the automaker’s two plants being shut down for eight weeks, it’s led to record low inventories for the Camden, N.J. automaker. Even before the coronavirus pandemic, Subaru kept its U.S. inventory low to keep resale values high. It works because Subaru of America has racked up countless Best Resale Value Brand awards from Kelly Blue Book.

In the same report, the sport-tuned 2020 Subaru WRX and performance-tuned STI are in high demand taking just 69.8 days to sell when the average sports car takes 107.2 days to move off the dealer’s lot.

Subaru models top the fastest-selling used cars

It’s not just new Subaru models that are the fastest sellers. The Subaru WRX and STI, Subaru Ascent SUV, and BRZ two-door sports coupe are the fastest-selling used cars. The Subaru BRZ takes just 44.5 days to sell, while the WRX and STI take 51.5 days when the average used sports car takes 70.4 days to sell. The Subaru Ascent 3-Row family hauler takes 55.8 days to sell when the average used SUV takes 72.1 days.

Why is the Subaru lineup and the 2020 Subaru Forester compact SUV, 2020 Crosstrek subcompact SUV hot sellers and so desirable? The Subaru SUVs offer standard all-wheel-drive on all models, they are fuel-efficient, fun-to-drive, affordable, and they are the safest new cars. It’s a combination that’s hard to beat.

While there are those who love to beat up Subaru for various missteps or their own perceptions, as a current owner of an '11 Outback with over 100K miles I can attest to their dependability and comfort. I have taken several 10 hour banzai runs in the car and arrived at my destination without any cracking bones or other pains, not bad for an over 60 YO.
