Two exclusive 2012 Audi R8 models coming to U.S.

The U.S. market will get some Exclusive Selection Edition 2012 Audi R8 V8 and V10 models later this month.

Audi has announced that the U.S. market will get two exclusive new 2012 Audi R8’s later this month. Both the R8 V8 and R8 V10 will be offered as Exclusive Selection Editions in limited volume. Audi announced today that only twenty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 vehicles and thirty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 vehicles will be produced for the U.S. market.

The Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8

The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 will come with an Audi first, Daytona Gray matte exterior paint. Outside, the V8 model will come with carbon fiber exterior splitter and diffuser, black grille surround, black exhaust finishers, R8 GT tail lamps, and red brake calipers that can be seen through the 19” titanium five-arm double spoke wheels.

Inside, the R8 V8 gets special features unique for the U.S. like an exclusive leather package with Crimson Red elements and contrast stitching, exclusive leather Navigation surround, and a thicker contoured leather multifunctional sport steering wheel. Under the hood, the 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 is powered by a 4.2-liter FSI V8 which produces 430 horsepower and 316 lb-ft of torque.

2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10

The Exclusive Selection Edition V10 also comes with special features. The exterior is painted in a Ibis white with Brilliant Black features including the exterior mirrors, and rear license plate surround. It also gets Brilliant Black on the sideblade, R8 GT tail lamps and 19” bi-color e-tron wheels.

Inside, the V10 cockpit is decked out with Ibis finishes and Alabaster White contrast stitching on the seats. Carbon Fiber trim is used throughout the V10 cabin along with an exclusive leather Navigation surround and contoured steering wheel. The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 is motivated by a powerful 5.2-liter FSI V10, and produces 525 horsepower with 391 lb-ft of torque.

Both Exclusive Selection Editions can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or an automatic R tronic gearbox. And of course the R8’s will come with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive for the ultimate wet or dry performance.
