Why did Subaru let average consumers do testing on the 2017 Forester prototype before it's production-ready?

While most SUV owners will never take their vehicles off-road, the 2017 Subaru Forester was put to the test by consumers who signed up for a test-ride event at their “Subaru active life Square”. Guests were able to participate in a special off-road course set up by Subaru in Japan to experience the new SUV. The event took place on October 6 in Japan at the Moripaku Outdoor Village.

Subaru let consumers run the new 2017 Forester prototype through a course consisting of water holes, rough gravel surfaces, steep dirt inclines, declines and angled grades so they could see first hand how it performs in the real world driven by average people. Subaru engineers wanted to see how changes to the 2017 Forester’s suspension responded to consumer inputs.

Check out the video below and see what the 2017 Forester looks like before its actual launch next year.

Along with the exterior refresh you can see in the video, Subaru is making mechanical upgrades underneath to the Forester's chassis and they let their guests experience the new SUV’s drivability and all-wheel-drive performance so they can continue to “polish” the 2017 Subaru Forester before it reaches production.
