The Volkswagen Beetle is getting sportier with an all-new R-Line package both inside and out.
Volkswagen is offering a new R-Line appearance package for the Beetle that is based on the top Sport version. The German automaker announced that there are two R-Line packages being offered on the new Beetle: an exterior package and an interior package. Volkswagen says the exterior package may be ordered separately, while the interior package is always offered as an extension with the R-Line exterior.
While the new sporty R-Line options don’t enhance the actual performance numbers of the Beetle, they do make it look faster. The new exterior and interior options can be combined with any of the twelve Beetle colors. The exterior package gets a host of features that will definitely enhance the sporty look of the popular two-door car.
Exterior R-Line features
Exterior features of the Beetle R-Line package will include, front bumpers with independent black grained air inlets and chrome surrounds for the directional indicators, a rear diffuser, special body side panels and door mirror housings in any of the twelve body colors, and R-Line logos on the front body beneath the A-pillars.
The R-Line equipped Beetle will also come with 18-inch “Twister” alloy wheels, and machine-polished 19-inch “Tornado” alloy wheels are offered as an option in black or white with performance 235/40 tires.
Interior R-Line goodies
The Beetle R-Line interior package includes a sport seat system with seats upholstered with an “active-breathing” fabric in “Kyalami” design, front head restraints with the R-Line badge, and leather-trimmed sport steering wheel. The special interior trim also gets a gear shift lever boot and the handbrake grip with decorative seams in “Art Grey” and decorative inlays in “Dark Vanadium.”
The sport seats can also be ordered in optional “Vienna” black leather with R-Line badges on the head restraints as well as on the door sill plates and the leather-trimmed sport steering wheel.
The Beetle sport is powered by three different powerplants, it comes with a 1.4-liter TSI making 157 horsepower, a 2.0-liter TSI that produces 197 horsepower, or a 2.0 TDI diesel that puts out 138 horsepower.
The additional Beetle R-Line exterior and exterior package is only being offered in Europe. We hope VW will make the sporty R-Line packages available in the U.S. soon.
