iSeeCars analyzed over 1.3 million new and used cars sold in May 2021 to determine the new and used vehicles that were in the highest demand and disappeared quickly from dealer lots. Here is where the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek and 2021 Outback are in the highest demand by state.
It's no surprise the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV sells fastest in Oregon and takes only 6.4 days to move off dealers’ lots. In Nebraska, Crosstrek is a surprise taking 9.7 days to move off dealers’ lots. So we are thinking, buyers who can’t find a Crosstrek model in Denver and the Front Range drive to Nebraska to get one.
The 2021 Subaru Outback sells quickest in Utah, taking only nine days to move off dealers’ lots. The iSeeCars study says the fastest-selling new vehicle across all states is the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and is fastest-selling in Michigan at 3.2 days.

Here are the fastest-selling used Subaru models by state
The fastest-selling used Subaru models are the Subaru Ascent selling quickest in Colorado, taking 20.4 days to move off dealers’ lots. The Subaru Ascent is also popular in New York, with used models selling in 19.5 days.
A used Subaru Forester takes just 22.5 days to sell in Iowa and takes j24.7 days to sell in Montana.
A used Subaru WRX and WRX STI sells quickest in Kansas, taking 17.2 days to move off dealers’ lots. In New Hampshire, the WRX and STI sit on dealer lots for 17.4 days.
The fastest-selling used car across all states, according to iSeeCars, is the Chevrolet Corvette in California at 10.5 days.
What does it mean for Subaru customers?
The report by iSeeCars says the global microchip shortage continues to impact new and used car sales. New car inventory has decreased by 15.7 percent, and used car inventory fell 2.1 percent in May over April.
With less inventory comes higher prices as new car prices rose 1.2 percent during the same period. In addition, a new report from Kelly Blue Book says Subaru’s new car transaction price increased 3.3 percent May over April 2021.
The refreshed 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek arrive this summer, but customers in most states could have a hard time finding the exact color and trim they want.
