The new 2016 BMW M2 Coupe will have a long life cycle according to reports. Why will it be one of the most sought after M performance cars?
According to reports by bmwarchiv.de, the new BMW M2 will have a long life cycle for the first generation model and will run from 2015 through 2020. This will be in line with other M cars and will have a life cycle almost as long as any other M car. The new M2 will be built at BMW’s plant in Leipzig, Germany alongside the BMW 2 Series Coupe and Convertible, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 1 Series 5-door on the main line.
This will be different than it’s spiritual successor the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, which had a limited production run from 2011 through 2012 and was also built at Leipzig. Even with the longer run, the BMW M2 Coupe will likely be one of the most desired M models due to its impressive drivetrain and track-ready performance.
The new 2016 M2 comes with a TwinPower 3.0-liter turbo 6-cylinder inline engine that pumps out an impressive 370hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. The rear-drive platform and lightweight aluminum M Sport Suspension and six-speed standard gearbox will make it a desirable car for performance enthusiasts sound the globe.
The M2 will blow the top off the fun-to drive meter and performance enthusiasts will likely snatch up the M2 as fast as they can be produced at the Leipzig plant. BMW Germany says they produce around 750 cars per day at the plant and the M2 will be integrated into the existing plant structure thanks to its high flexibility. Look for the 2016 BMW M2 Coupe to arrive in showrooms in April, 2016 and be one of the most desired M cars ever produced.
