A new Bankrate report says it costs less to insure the 2021 Subaru Outback than other midsize SUVs. Why is insurance less for the Outback? Based on 2020 Quadrant Information Services data, the report says insurance companies base their premiums on risk, and the Outback is less of a risk because of one thing; fewer accidents.
The more likely the vehicle is to be involved in an accident, the more it costs to fix it, and it is the primary factor in auto insurance base rates. Companies also consider crash test ratings, the size of the engine and horsepower, and safety features.
