Subaru Canada reports sales for the 2015 WRX STI are up an incredible 91.9 percent.
The new-generation 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI line is a hot item in Canada and the performance car is outselling the previous model by a wide margin. WRX/STI saw record sales in January with results up an incredible 91.9 percent with 165 units retailed. The new-generation performance model was introduced last spring and continues to fly off dealer lots this winter. WRX/STI didn’t start well but things changed quickly.
Fans felt compromised when they saw the new WRX
When we go back to when the WRX Concept hit the New York Auto Show in 2013, there was reason to expect a home run out of the production model that arrived last year. Fans were disappointed when the WRX unveiled in LA didn’t look like the WRX Concept. There was a feeling of compromise from WRX’s transition from concept to production model.

Fans also weren’t happy that Subaru dropped the 5-door hatchback model and was only offering WRX and STI in the sedan body style. Things changed quickly when performance enthusiasts began reading the first reviews and heard about the new 268 hp 2.0-liter engine and chassis upgrades WRX received. Everything changed and dealers saw orders pouring in for the new 2015 WRX/STI models.
WRX/STI ideal for winter fun
Unlike most performance car sales that slow down in the winter, WRX/STI’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive makes it a car that is ideal for Canadian winter driving. Fans are buying the optional roof rack, loading up the snowboards and heading to the ski slopes on the weekends. This is how the WRX/STI was intended to be used by driving enthusiasts. You won’t find the performance sedans sitting in the garage during the cold Canadian winter months.

I can't speak for the
I can't speak for the Canadian models, but one annoyance with the '15 WRX in the states is that the stock tires are Summer tires. Since I live in the northeast, and didn't receive my July ordered car until December, I had to buy Winter specific tires. Granted I would've done this anyway, but how hard, with Subaru's state of the art versatile production plant in Japan, would it have been to slap on all seasons or winter tires onto their cars headed for the Northeast? Now I've got a set of summer tires collecting dust in my garage that I can't sell, because everyone and their mother who bought a new WRX is flooding eBay with theirs. ...Other than that I'm enjoying the hell out of the car. :)

I have a 2014 WRX and live in Canada. It too came with summer tires! It's something to look forward to in the spring: throwing on high(er) performance tires!
I agree, but I'd would've
I agree, but I'd would've rather had stock winters come with the car cause I don't care about wheel/tire size for my winter setup. I ended up going bigger and wider. I bought 255/35R-18 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GTs (great rebates from TireRack.com at the time) which are sitting next to my stock summers in the garage. Waiting for spring to pick up wheels.
