Are you torn over whether to buy a used car over a brand new car? Here’s some uncommonly good commonsense advice on car ownership that just might convince you why you should not buy a new car today.

Car Buying Decisions

Reaching a car buying decision is not a matter to take lightly. At the very least you could wind up with a car that doesn’t really suit you. At the worst, you could wind up in some pretty heavy debt that will take years to get out of.

To make matters more difficult, we are at a time when both new and used cars are being sold at seriously over-inflated prices where MSRP values are becoming irrelevant in the real world today.

The most basic question to ask yourself when considering buying a car, is whether to buy a used car or a brand new model. That may seem overly obvious; however, car buyers sometimes need to be reminded that this consideration is actually quite complex as a multi-factorial problem that involves needs, wants, finances, goals, and desires while at the same time weighing the pros and cons of owning a used vehicle over a new vehicle.

In Praise of the Older Used Car

In past articles we’ve covered the many pitfalls of used car ownership that focuses on service center scams; discovering that the person doing the repair was inept; worrying over whether the used car dealer was trying to unload a lemon on you; and, why there is no best used car model to focus on when shopping for a used car.

Today, we are taking a more positive look at why buying a used car actually makes more sense than buying a new car---especially in today’s market. This was inspired by a recent video posted by Eric the Car Guy YouTube channel where Eric discusses why it doesn’t matter what you drive.

Digging a littler deeper into Eric’s past videos, there is a theme that reflects his views and the value he places on used cars that bears sharing with car buyers who have not yet adequately answered the aforementioned most basic question of “...whether to buy a used car or a brand new model.”

The True Value of a Used Car

That said, here are 3 videos by Eric that I encourage car shoppers to listen to (in order preferably) that can help you make the correct car buying decision for yourself from the point of view of an experienced mechanic and car owner who understands the true value of a used car.

IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU DRIVE
