Three Ford Trucks Made Consumer Reports Worst Deals on New Cars Update

Looking to buy a new truck or car, but not sure which deals are good, and which are bad? Here’s a recently updated list from Consumer Reports analysts who say that these are the worst deals on new trucks and cars right now.

Unfortunately, many new vehicle models are going way over their MSRP. How much more? In some cases, as much as 16% above the MSRP! That’s the message in a recent Consumer Reports update to their worst new car deal category.

While the sticker shock is significant, it pays to bear in mind that according to CR analysts there are reasons beyond consumer control that accounts for this rise in new vehicle costs leaving many shoppers with little recourse: “…Inflation, parts shortages, and a UAW strike have thrown a wrench into the auto industry, putting a severe strain on the new-car market. So forget about saving money off the sticker price on many popular cars, SUVs, and trucks—and special-edition versions. Some are so hard to come by that consumers are paying well above the sticker price for them, as we are seeing with some sports cars (notably ones with a manual transmission) and certain pickup trucks.”

To help consumers on a budget streamline their new car or truck shopping, CR analysts have recently put together a list of 10 cars, SUVs, and trucks that today are selling well above their MSRP based on sticker price data from TrueCar for 2023 models. Readers will find that the biggest high rollers are the more-popular Toyota and Ford models.

That said, here is a summary of the list presented in ranked order from highest to lowest above MSRP. For a more detailed breakdown of the data, please visit the CR website.
