You’ll either love Civic Coupe’s look or you’ll hate it. But, will people buy it?
Arguably, 2016 Civic Coupe is great looking, in a squat, rear end heavy sort of way. As someone commented today in social media: “Baby got back,” Damn ugly,” and, "When will we see the Si?" In other words, 2016 Civic Coupe will come to market with mixed reviews as to its ‘balance’ of design; it’s that first impression, knee jerk reaction.
American Honda Motors just rolled the proverbial dice on yet another manifestation of a car segment that has lost popularity in the United States. From a volume sales, marketing point of view, the Coupe is dead.
The reasons for this are many, first being the impracticality of a challenging entrance and exit from the rear seat. Coupes are not generally considered for family transportation. Yes, a child’s car seat will fit back there, but mothers have a tough time tending to a youngster without ease of rear-seat-access.
Thus, the Honda Civic Sedan is the retail volume leader in the uptick economy compact segment, with the Coupe finding its niche in the “I want an Si but can’t afford it crowd.”
For enthusiast that love the look of a 2 door Coupe design, difficulty of 2nd row access is often offset by the visual treat of exceptional clean and flowing body line that is 2016 Civic Coupe. Torque News recently experienced the 2016 Accord Coupe on the streets of Los Angeles. Hey, when you’re sitting in the driver’s seat, you don’t need a rear seat.
Civic Coupe fans, and specifically Civic Si fans will appreciate the newfound increase in dimension, refinement, handling prowess, and power presented by the 10th generation 2016 Civic Coupe.
Although we haven’t driven Civic Coupe yet, assuming that the car drives and handles as well as the turbocharged 2016 Civic Touring Sedan, Civic Coupe will enjoy proportionate sales success.
There’s also that very cool tail light assembly, trunk wing and digital lighting array, as inspired by the 2016 Civic Concept, love it!
Civic will sell 400,000 units in its first full year production run
In speaking with fellow automotive journalists at this week’s Los Angeles Connectivity Conference, it was suggested more than once that A.H.M. would sell 400,000 Civics in the first full year of production. Could be, 2016 Civic sets a new benchmark in the economy compact class. Although looking at the MSRP, breaches that segment on the way to midsize classification.
