Acura’s manufactured in Ohio 2017 NSX hybrid supercar takes its place in the annals of the West Coast’s premier auto event.
NSX has been here before and inevitably will appear in Carmel for years to come. 2016 marks the year that a production 2nd generation Acura NSX supercar will grace the lawn at “The Quail,” along with the race modified NSX GT3 and a handful of Acura racing legends. I love the looks of the race prepared NSX GT3.
Torque News is here to experience the glitz and glamor of this no-grit Monterey Peninsula wide drive and ride event. Presenting some of the rarest and subsequently mind boggling expensive collector cars in the world, this year also marks my return to the car show world, and specifically Concours d'Elegance -- my first since 1985 -- that’s just a bit of a mind blower for this auto aficionado.
2016 is the year of BMW
The last time I attended Alfa Romeo was the featured mark. I was there piloting now deceased E. Burkhart's newly frame-off restored 57’ Mercedes Benz Gullwing. At that time, oblivious to the exclusivity of the event, I crashed the lawn party, and although not with drink in hand, enjoyed viewing and photographing Concours entrants as they rolled onto the “class winners stage” for crowd review and subsequent applause. Read my initial drive impressions of the 2017 Acura NSX here.
Sold out for weeks
“My bad” as the kids say, I underestimated the size and impact of this event on area lodging, there is none! So, I’ll be staying down the road in Santa Cruz, with Chef Eric King.
Thanks to our friends at Acura, I may have the opportunity to walk “The Quall. We’ll see, the promoters of this venue deemed me unworthy of admittance. Who knows, they may bar me at the gate! All kidding aside, congratulations go to Acura for a job well done. I look forward to reacquainting myself with NSX and viewing for the second time the “Precision Concept.” I may even take the refreshed 2017 Acura MDX out for a jaunt. Cheers!
