In the rarefied world of 24 hour endurance car racing, nothing captivates the imagination quite like an ORECA 07 based prototype race car. Last week. Acura Motorsports and Team Penske unveiled the Team Penske ARX-05; stunning!
Acura refers to their latest, Dave Marek designed experimental prototype as “the new look of speed,” and that it is; although Acura Motorsports has not, and will most likely never share the full specifications of a car custom built for Team Penske Racing.
What we do know is that the Marek ARX-5 design is based on the French manufactured ORECA Motorsports 07, the equivalence of the Dallara Indycar chassis in the world of Le Mans style Grand Prix racing. It will be powered by the mechanically bulletproof H.P.D.(Honda Performance Development) race modified 3.5 liter, twin-turbocharged V6, as found in the well received Acura TLX A-Spec, MDX, and RDX SUV..
Shades of Acura
Looking to the Acura ARX-05, Marek and company did a commendable job of injecting a bit of Acura flavor into Team Penske’s newest project; from the sweep of the hood to the recognizable “jewel eye” headlight design.
