Honda CR-V carries over for 2018, with all the automotive goodness that made it the top selling SUV of any size when averaged over the past 20 years in the United States. Why is Honda’s 2-row so successful?
For model year 2017, Honda CR-V was effectively reinvented from the ground up. A longer, wider CR-V with a much improved drive dynamic came on the scene. Sporting a new Earth Dreams ™ 1.5 Liter direct injected, turbocharged gasoline engine option, improved suspension, and a segmented intelligent CVT, (continuous variable transmission) not only is the 5th generation CR-V recognized by the automotive press as the most comfortable, “fun to drive” compact 2-row SUV in America, but the most fuel efficient in its classification. Torque News first experienced the reinvented CR-V in Monterey, California.
2018 Honda CR-V combines family hauling utility with premium comfort and connectivity
Honda CR-V takes on the formidable compact crossover, SUV segment, with a very comprehensive and well defined trim level option packaging lineup. With a beginning MSRP of $24,150, for the entry trim level, 2-wheel drive, 2.4 Liter normally aspirated 4-cylinder, CVT transmission equipped LX, one discovers a far less than ‘stripped’ family conveyance presenting a plethora of standard equipped electronic convenience and safety features. With a stated EPA MPG fuel economy of 26 city/32 highway/28 combined, 2018 Honda CR-V remains the most fuel efficient, non-hybrid 2-row compact SUV in North America. I spend a week in the seat of Honda’s best selling SUV, and found this 2-row a pleasure to drive.
Kids or not, Honda CR-V is a dynamic, and very capable multitask daily driver
I find Honda CR-V when drive compared to Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4, and Mazda CX5, to be the most refined and spacious offering in a groupe of very good 2-row competitors, all bringing their own unique spin to the most popular car segment in America. U.S.News and World Report ranks Honda CR-V #1 in the segment with an overall score of 8.6, edging out Mazda CX-5 by a nose.
Honda CR-V goodness carried over into 2018 with one change
For 2018, Honda CR-V’s MSRP increases by $105. That’s it! Honda holds the line on base MSRP for the new model year. Find the full trim list here.
