The surprising leader for American Honda sales in August is the underappreciated, Fit platformed subcompact HR-V crossover. The uptick is quite astounding!

Honda HR-V crossover sales skyrocket in August with a 66% percent sales increase month over month recorded for Honda’s subcompact Fit platformed crossover. HR-V was a bright spot for a month that found Honda Accord sales tanking for the second month in a row, as the 10th generation Honda Civic grabed unprecedented compact sedan segment market shares.

As reported earlier by Torque News: With 2017 Honda Fit production transitioned back to Japan, Honda has increased dedicated production of the manufactured in Mexico Fit platformed coupe-like subcompact crossover. HR-V is the only subcompact Honda vehicle available in North America with a CR-V derivative all wheel drive option. You'd be hard pressed to beat the value of this package.

On our first drive, I found HR-V to be surprisingly roomy, easily converted into a near flat deck work and play utility vehicle, yet refined enough to run through a car wash and take out on the town. Fun to drive and fuel efficient, this Honda Fit sized crossover may be a perfect choice for those commuters looking to a subcompact crossover package for all weather, all wheel drive safety and utility, while retaining the ease of subcompact in city travel, and no hassle parking prowess. I first discovered Honda HR-V in Miami.

Ample power, decent ride and fuel efficiency

With 51,417 Honda HR-V's sold to date for 2016, and increase of 108.9% over August 2015, It looks like the maker has yet another winner on its hands. Read my 2016 Honda HR-V camping adventure here. For a bit more, enjoy the video.
