Acura holds one of if not the most accomplished and recognized teams in automotive design today. NSX GT3, and more specifically, its Livery, is a bold example of the artistic flair that lies at the core of Acura design. First and foremost, Dave Marek is an artist.
Acura Creative Director Dave Marek puts his virtual brush to NSX GT3, resulting in a very unique, and recognizable Livery for Acura, Realtime Racing's PWC comeback team. love it! Automotive design often begins with the art of the line. For Realtime Racing's NSX GT3 team, Dave Marek employs the historically correct Acura, RealTime Racing color scheme, including RTR's signature "squircles" – in a mirror-image pattern common to both Acura Motorsports NSX GT3 racing efforts this year.
Livery hints to NSX GT3’s exceptional performance
Signalling a shift in Acura’s racing program, the production NSX derived NSX GT3 Car returns RealTime Racing’s Ryan Everly and relatively new team member Peter Cox to what’s become one of, if not the most exciting, action filled venue in auto racing today. Gone is the capable but class breaching TLX GT, replaced by an exceptional supercar platformed coupe, that will knock doors and fenders with Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Mclaren, Nissan and Porsche on the way to the podium. Read my latest take on NSX GT3 here.
We’ll miss P.D. Cunningham in the driver’s seat this season, as one of the winningest drivers in P.W.C., trades in his fire-suit and helmet, for cap and headphones, and the full time management of Acura, RealTime Racing. We bid farewell to Acura TLX GT.
"Our fans greeted the Michael Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3s with great enthusiasm, and we think they'll be equally thrilled with both the looks and performance of the RealTime Racing cars in this year's Pirelli World Challenge," said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development, which includes the Acura Motorsports efforts. "Now we have two iconic liveries in two series representing Acura Precision Crafted Performance. We look forward to building on our history of success with RealTime Racing in 2017, and building on our strong start in IMSA with Michael Shank Racing."
Added to the RealTime driving lineup for the Sprint-X rounds will be Acura NSX GT3 endurance racers Mark Wilkins and Tom Dyer. The pair will combine its RTR duties in the longer-distance Pirelli World Challenge races with the North American Endurance Championship rounds of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, driving for the Michael Shank Racing team.
The 2017 Pirelli World Challenge opens March 10-12 at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Florida, scene of Eversley's debut GT win for Acura in 2015.
