Putting your smallest engine into your largest vehicle may seem like a terrible idea. But Audi might be the exception.
For 2017, the Q7 crossover will get Audi's smallest engine sold in the U.S. - a 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine. The 2.0 TFSI produces 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. If you're still worried this engine is up to task, let us provide some key numbers for you,
- The 273 pound-feet of torque is available between 1,600 to 4,500 rpm
- The 2.0 TFSI is a half-second quicker than the last-generation Q7 equipped with the supercharged V6 (6.4 vs. 6.9 seconds). Some credit needs to go the new model weighing 500 pounds less.
- EPA numbers aren't available at this time, but Audi claims the 2.0 TFSI will return 22 mpg in the combined cycle.
The addition of 2.0 TFSI for the Q7 also brings forth a lower price. The 2017 Q7 will now begin at the $49,950 for the Q7 2.0 TFSI Premium. The Premium Plus will kick off at $53,950. Both prices include a $950 destination charge.
Audi says the Q7 2.0 TFSI arrives at dealers early next year.
