Ever since Bentley announced the Bentayga, there was the question of whether or not it could challenge the king of luxury SUVs, the Range Rover.
On paper, the Bentley Bentayga makes a strong case. It features a twin-turbo 6.0L W12 engine with 600 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque. The run to 60 mph takes 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 186 mph. Being a Bentley, the Bentayga features a number of high-end touches such as leather and real wood trim.
To challenge the Bentayga, Land Rover called up their Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) to create the ultimate Range Rover. The end result is the Range Rover SVAutobiography. Like the Bentayga, the SVAutobiography features the finest materials and a supercharged 5.0L V8 with 542 horsepower.
So which one is better? Autocar decided to pit the two SUVs in a series of tests. Their verdict ultimately comes down to which model can justify their high pricetag. The Bentayga starts at £160,200 ($229,100 in the U.S.) and the SVAutobiography starts at £148,645 ($199,495 in the U.S.).
