Mercedes-Benz already has one of the largest variety of vehicles on offer from the small smart car to the Mercedes-Maybach S600. But that wasn't enough for the German automaker. So they turned their attention to a golf cart.
No, that isn't a misprint. Mercedes-Benz has built a golf cart. Called the Mercedes-Benz Style Edition Garia Golf Car, this is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz designers, Daimler’s Think & Act Tank Business Innovation, and golf cart manufacturer Garia. The German automaker describes the cart as "a real sports car." We'll give you a moment for your laughter to subside.
Keep in mind that a few years ago Mercedes-Benz teased this futuristic golf cart.
The design is unmistakably Mercedes-Benz, although we do see a fair amount of smart here as well. There are a set of thin LED headlights, a dimpled front grille, a curved windshield, and a small rear spoiler that also acts as a golf bag holder. Inside is a fridge that sits under the bench seat, a 10.1-inch touchscreen (which is larger than most of Mercedes' offering for their cars), and fancy cup holders.
Power comes from a 4-HP electric motor paired with a lithium-ion battery pack. The battery provides 50 miles of range and only takes 6 hours to charge.
Garia will build two examples as show models. But if there is demand, it will likely go into production.
