The Range Rover family will be welcoming a new model at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
Meet the Velar which will sit between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport.
"We call the Velar the avant garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything," said Land Rover's chief design officer, Gerry McGovern in a press release.
Avantgarde is the perfect word to describe Velar. From the lone picture Land Rover released of the vehicle, we can see a large glass roof and a slightly narrow rear. As we reported last June, the Velar will look somewhat similar to the Range Rover Sport but with narrower greenhouse and lowered roofline.
If you're wondering how Land Rover came up with Velar, it is the name the British automaker used during the development of the original Range Rover. Velar is derived from the Italian word 'velare' meaning to cover or veil.
