For some, the ultimate luxury item for a vehicle is not having to fill it up with gas or take it to a car wash.
Yesterday at the LA Auto Show, Volvo announced a pilot program called Volvo Concierge Services where it gives owners the ability to summon fuel, a car wash, or a pickup for servicing.
“Volvo Concierge Services will mean that you never have to stand out in the rain to fill your car again. At Volvo Cars our mission is to make life less complicated, and this is a great example of how in-car technology can be used to deliver this,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of Volvo Car USA in a statement.
The services work through a smartphone app where an owner can pick one of the services on offer. Once chosen, an authorized user gets a digital key that is good for one use to access the vehicle. After the service is done, the vehicle dropped back off at its original location or taken to another place. Already, Volvo has teamed up with Filld, a fuel-delivery company to do the refilling of fuel.
Volvo Concierge Services will launch this month in San Francisco and will invite 300 owners of S90 and XC90 models to participate.
