Chevrolet is giving its best-selling SUV a tougher look and better tech to compete in the hotly contested compact SUV segment.
Chevrolet is spiffing up its popular Equinox compact SUV, giving the 2025 Equinox new safety technology and better connectivity. Chevrolet has been building the SUV for 20 years now and has sold more than 3 million of the vehicles. Now, Equinox will look much more like its larger Chevrolet siblings with a grille that matches the Chevy trucks and the redesigned Traverse SUV. The all-new Equinox is 2.3 inches wider than the outgoing model. Surprisingly, the EV version that is expected out this year will not look as trucklike.
“The 2025 Equinox brings to one of our most important nameplates bodylines and proportions inspired by our brand’s truck DNA, also adopted in the upcoming Traverse,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “It also builds on the core strengths that have earned Equinox tremendous customer loyalty over the past two decades, and made it the second-best seller in our lineup, after Silverado.”
New Equinox Trims and Technology
The Chevrolet Equinox will be available in three different trim levels: LT, RS and a new ACTIV trim. Equinox debuts with a 1.5L Turbo engine that produces 175 horsepower. It will be available in front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
The new ACTIV trim package is focused on the off-roading fans. Equinox ACTIV features a unique front, all-terrain tires, and an available white roof for a two-tone finish. It also has blacked out badging, 17-in wheels and available heated and ventilated front seats and rear heated seats.
“This generation of Equinox has taken on a broad-shouldered, athletic appearance that conveys confidence and versatility,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “We leaned into distinct appearances and material selection for LT, RS and ACTIV so everyone can see themselves in an Equinox.”
More Technology to Better Compete in the Crowded Compact SUV Segment
The driver has an 11-inch-diagonal configurable information center. The Equinox also has a new 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen that’s more than 30% larger than the largest screen offered in the current model. The new screen is the driver’s gateway to music, media, maps and other connected services via Google built-in.
The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox has 63.5 cubic feet of cargo space when the back seats are folded down. The Equinox also has rear cargo floor storage space. There is also wireless charging available.
