An anonymous buyer spent $2.5 million to buy the very first 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Supertruck at the Barrett-Jackson Auction.
The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 wowwed the crowd at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction when it raised an incredible $2.5 million dollars for charity. The money will go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The charity builds mortgage-free, accessible smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans, as well as mortgage-free homes for Gold Star families and the families of first responders killed in the line of duty. Barrett-Jackson waived all of the fees and commissions for the HUMMER auction so the entire $2.5 million will go to the charity. The female buyer remained anonymous.
“We are thrilled with the auction results and what the proceeds will mean for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president of Buick and GMC. “We also recognize the support of Barrett-Jackson for this special occasion, which made it a 100 percent charitable endeavor.”
The 2022 HUMMER EV Edition 1
The 2022 HUMMER EV Edition 1 will be the fully equipped launch model of GMC’s first fully-electric supertruck. The vehicle that crossed the block was just a pre-production model, the buyer will get the first real truck expected to roll off the line in late 2021. The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV supertruck is expected to have 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. GM estimates that it will go from 0-60 mph in approximately 3 seconds.
The 2022 GMC HUMMER EV launch editions will be white and feature the ability to steer all four wheels and even crab walk on a diagonal. It will be built on GM’s new Ultium platform that is designed to power several different types and sizes of vehicles. Drivers will be able to charge the HUMMER EV at any of the new 350-kilowatt high output public DC fast charging stations. The HUMMER EV is built to go off-road, with underbody armor and underbody cameras. It will feature huge 35-inch tires.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established to honor the memory of Sept. 11 first-responder Stephen Siller. You can find out more about the charity and its mission at www.tunnel2towers.org.
“One-hundred percent of the hammer price from this auction will resonate across America,” said Frank Siller, chairman and CEO of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. “This donation from the HUMMER EV Edition 1 will help build homes for our catastrophically-injured veterans to give them their independence and a better quality of life.”
