The 2025 GMC Terrain joins the Acadia and Yukon with a more assertive and bolder look.

GMC is sharing a preview of the upcoming, next-generation Terrain. The tease photo shows off the 2025 GMC Terrain AT4’s redesigned front fascia, which appears bolder and more aggressive. The redesigned Terrain represents the third generation of the crossover. The Terrain completes GMC’s upgraded crossover and SUV lineup. The Terrain AT4 joins the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia and the refreshed 2025 Yukon. I wrote about the redesigned 2025 GMC Yukon earlier this week. The entire GMC Terrain will be unveiled later this year.

2025 GMC Terrain AT4

Much like the tease photo of the 2025 Yukon, GMC is only revealing the corner of the front fascia of the GMC Terrain AT4. The SUV has updated headlight designs and a redesigned grille. The refreshed 2025 Yukon will be the next GMC SUV launch following the all-new Acadia hitting dealerships this spring. The Terrain will launch later this year. Earlier this year, GMC announced plans to expand its brand into more global markets. The 2025 Yukon will lead the brand’s rollout in Australia, New Zealand and China.

The AT4 trim is GMC’s upgraded off-roading package. After being introduced on the GMC Sierra 1500 five years ago, it quickly became GMC’s most popular package. While GMC is not releasing a lot of details, we can learn a lot about the 2025 Terrain from the looks of the redesigned 2024 Acadia. The entire GMC lineup will now reflect the more assertive stance of the GMC Sierra 1500 truck. The Acadia was the first of the SUVs and crossovers to adopt the more aggressive and brawnier look.

GM is convinced that there is more room at the premium level for vehicles. GMC upsized the 2024 GMC Acadia to fill the desire for a bigger vehicle, with more passenger and cargo room and more technology.

The 2024 Acadia has a 15-inch infotainment screen, available Super Cruise hands-free driving, and a spacious third row. The AT4 version adds better off-road handling, and the Denali trim loads up the luxury including a new panoramic glass roof.

When the 2024 Acadia was unveiled last September, Duncan Aldred said this:

“GMC’s brand mission is to be a leader in capability, professional grade refinement and technological innovation,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, of Buick and GMC. “The all-new Acadia showcases all that and more in a uniquely GMC way — and it’s a blueprint of what’s to come for the GMC SUV portfolio.”

I would expect the 2025 Terrain AT4 to have a bigger infotainment screen and much more technology than earlier versions. It will also have great off-road handling and more premium finishes on its interior. When the Terrain originally debuted, it was a sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Equinox. Since then, the two vehicles have become much different, with the Terrain being developed to have more of a trucklike appearance. At this point GMC is not releasing any details about pricing or delivery dates. We’ll have to wait for more specifics closer to launch.
