The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is perhaps the most highly-anticipated vehicle in recent history. The 670-horsepower mid-engine Corvette is expected to go into production during the summer.
The world-famous Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction runs from January 22-30, 2022. One of the highlights of this year’s event will be the auction of the very first retail production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Chevrolet is donating the VIN 001 supercar to raise money for Operation Homefront, a non-profit dedicating to helping military families.
The Barrett-Jackson Catalogue Describes Lot 3009 This Way
The first retail production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 puts the world on notice, with its striking appearance, sound and tactile feel. The new American supercar is set apart by its beating heart - the all-new 5.5-liter LT6, the highest-horsepower, naturally aspirated V8 to hit the market in any production car, ever. An all-new flat-plane crankshaft design entices drivers to push the tachometer to a lofty 8,600 rpm, creating 670hp. Almost every exterior detail unique to the Z06 serves a purpose for aerodynamics, handling or cooling, with styling cues that accentuate the car's sense of motion. Designers pulled out the fenders to accommodate larger wheels and air intakes, giving the Corvette Z06 a wider, lower appearance further emphasized by a unique rear fascia that also features centered floating exhaust bezels. This floating design was key to the precise tuning in the exhaust note. In the driver-focused cockpit, premium materials are complemented by available carbon-fiber trim that expresses the car's lightweight, track-focused mantra. Unique features include an available carbon-fiber-wrapped steering wheel and the all-new, fully trimmed interior available in Adrenaline Red. With 12 available exterior colors and seven interior colors (with the opportunity to create thousands of combinations) and seven available wheel packages, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is the most bespoke Corvette yet.
Operation Homefront
The 2023 Corvette Z06 is expected to cross the auction block on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at about 8:30 PM MT. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront helps military families overcome short-term problems so that they do not become long-term chronic issues. The non-profit provides critical financial assistance, housing and family support programs.
“We have a longstanding tradition of selling VIN 001 and first-production vehicles at our auctions to benefit many charities doing exceptional work in our communities,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Over our 50-year history, we’ve helped raise more than $135 million to date and these highly collectible vehicles like this Z06 in Scottsdale have played a large role in this. We’re honored to once again set the stage for another monumental moment in automotive history with 100-percent of the hammer price of this first retail production Z06 going to Operation Homefront.”
“We are absolutely thrilled that the proceeds of the auction of the first ever retail production mid-engine Corvette Z06 will help us help our military families overcome their financial hardships,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “All are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our friends at Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson as their unwavering commitment to our important work allows us to continue to build strong, stable and secure military families so they can have the opportunity to thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.”
Previous Corvette Stingray Auction Raised Millions
When the first 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray sold at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson, it sold for an incredible $3 million. The buyer was Rick Hendrick, the owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Former NASCAR champion and Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon was sitting with Hendrick when he made the winning bid. Gordon is now Vice Chairman and part owner of Hendrick Motorsports. The beneficiary of that sale was The Detroit Children’s Fund. Will the first 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 bring in that kind of money? We’ll find out on January 29th. I hope so, for the charity’s sake.
