A well respected group of journalists is giving the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer its top award for the second year in a row.
Most of the U.S. is sweltering in the summer heat but school is starting soon, and it won’t be long before we have to prepare for winter and often treacherous conditions. Drivers looking for great all-weather vehicles should seriously consider the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. For the second time, the New England Motor Press Association has chosen the Jeep Grand Wagoneer as the Best Premium Full-size SUV.
No one knows winter driving better than the people who live in the Northeast. During the months of November through March, NEMPA journalists put numerous manufacturers' vehicles to the ultimate test in New England's harsh winter weather. Winners emerge at a one-day testing and scoring event at NEMPA headquarters in Middleborough, Massachusetts. The journalists represent publications in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
As I have written previously, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer no longer has the HEMI V-8 engine. Instead, the Grand Wagoneer has the more powerful Hurricane Twin Turbo I-6 engine, delivering 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. The Hurricane I-6 is now standard across the entire Grand Wagoneer lineup, including the base Grand Wagoneer.
Even though the, Grand Wagoneer is a luxury premium SUV, it still has Jeep’s off-roading chops. The Grand Wagoneer has Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system and can handle up to 24 inches of water fording. The Quadra-Lift air suspension helps deliver a smooth ride and gives the Wagoneer up to 10 inches of ground clearance.
The Grand Wagoneer also has plenty of technology to keep passengers entertained during potential winter traffic jams. The Grand Wagoneer has up to 75 inches of total screen displays. The instrument panel alone has nearly 45 inches of screens. An available 10.25-inch passenger screen can allow the front passenger to help navigate during rough winter weather.
The 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is now also available in an extended L model. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer also offers best-in-class towing.
What the NEMPA Journalists Said:
“For the second year in a row, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer outperformed its peers during winter testing with a spacious, high-quality interior, clever use of displays and a smooth air suspension,” said Clifford Atiyeh, president, NEMPA. “While we miss the HEMI® V-8, the new turbo Hurricane inline-six is even more powerful and purposeful in this flagship Jeep.”
"The Jeep Grand Wagoneer embodies both capability and luxury," said Bill Peffer, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. "Its advanced four-wheel-drive systems, cutting-edge technology and premium cabin come together to create a unique driving experience. We're especially grateful for the recognition from the New England Motor Press Association members, as it reinforces the Grand Wagoneer's ability to excel in even the harshest winter conditions."
