Jeep has assembled a new package for off-road enthusiasts that is certain to hit all the sweet spots. It is on display at the Chicago Auto Show.
Jeep and Ram are focusing on creating highly desirable custom packages that can be ordered straight from the factory. Jeep’s latest package is on display at the Chicago Auto Show and it appears destined to be a hit. The custom package is called the Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 which stands for Jeep Performance Parts 20 and it puts together a number of the Performance Parts that Jeep aficionados crave on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler.
Assembled By Jeep Factory Professionals
I have done stories on the special Mopar custom shops that Jeep and Ram have built previously. They are factories located very close to the original plants and they use Mopar factory-trained technicians to make all of the upgrades.
Accessories Are Covered By Factory Warranties
The specially ordered parts and components are all covered by the original Jeep warranties.
The Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 model includes a number of off-road Performance Parts that are often in high demand. The Mopar accessories include a 2-inch lift kit, a Rubicon Warn Winch, steel tube doors, steel rock rails, special mirrors and more.
“The new limited-edition Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 is a ‘check-all-the boxes’ off-road vehicle for enthusiasts,” said Mark Bosanac, Head of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care for FCA – North America. “We loaded the Jeep brand’s iconic rock crawler with factory-backed and quality-tested, authentic Jeep Performance Parts specifically designed and engineered to tackle the toughest conditions.”
The Jeep Performance Part catalogue lists more than 200 different accessories. The Jeep Wrangler is already one of the most highly-customized vehicles in the marketplace. More than 90 percent of Jeep owners have purchased at least one Mopar accessory.
JPP 20 Package Includes the Hottest Upgrades
The Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 will be available only in ocean blue or white. It will have special badging and graphics, including an American flag on the hood. The interior will feature embroidery on the seats and all-weather injection molded floor mats.
The Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 will come with both aluminum doors for full road safety and the tube doors for off-roading. The JPP steel front bumper and skid plate are wide enough to protect the fenders, but narrower than the regular versions. The bumper is also powder-coated with D-rings for extra towing capacity.
The JPP 20 trailering package is also upgraded to improve the off-roading experience. The Trailer-tow and Heavy- Duty Electrical Group includes four auxiliary switches, a high-capacity 240-amp alternator and a Class II hitch receiver with four- and seven-pin adapters.
Upgraded Gate for the Spare Tire
The JPP 20 Swing Gate Hinge Reinforcement allows the driver to carry a larger spare tire on the back gate. Another special kit allows the owner to put a third brake light in the center of the spare tire.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler JPP 20 buyer will receive special credits that they can use toward buying the 2-inch lift kit, special 5-inch or 7-inch Led light kits and their choice of one of five different sets of off-road wheels and tires.
Buyers can choose from a number of engine options:
- 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque) with engine stop-start (ESS) or mild-hybrid eTorque assist technology
- 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine (260 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque) with ESS
- 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine (285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque) with ESS or mild-hybrid eTorque assist technology
- All of the engines are paired with a standard TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.
Production of the Wrangler JPP 20 will be limited for the 2020 model year. Buyers can put in orders in the second quarter and vehicles will arrive in dealerships this summer. Pricing and fuel economy will be announced closer to the launch date. The magic of ordering the special packages is that the cost of the accessories is built into the cost of the vehicle and the financing. You don’t have to come up with the money to buy the special gadgets out of pocket.
