The Ford Motor Co. has recalled 19,509 2019 Ranger mid-sized pickups to repair a possible issue with the HVAC Blower Motor.

For the fourth time since May, Ford has recalled 2019 Rangers. This time the call back is for a problem the blower motor for the air conditioning system. The first recall was over the Ranger’s front seat belt. The second recall dealt with a problem with the Ranger’s PRNDL shifter. The third recall, last month, deals with potential steering gear corrosion.

Recall Affects About 19,000 Rangers

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the HVAC blower motor may have an improper clearance between one of its electrical terminals and the conductive base-plate. The issue, a short circuit of the blower motor, was responsible for the recall of 19,509 2019 Ford Rangers.

According to paperwork filed with the agency, improper clearance increases the possibility that an electrical short could happen. If the short-circuit does occur, it may result in the blower motor overheating, melting, smoking, or causing a fire.

The manufacturer built the affected pickups at its Michigan Assembly Plant from Aug. 1 to Sept. 19, 2019. The recall affected 17,965 Rangers in the U.S. and another 1,544 in Canada.

Resolution Of Recall

Dealers will inspect the HVAC blower motor in the affected vehicles. If the Ranger’s manufacture date falls in the Aug. 1 to Sept. 19 period, dealers will replace the blower motor free of charge.
