A pair of Hondas was honored by Car and Driver as they were named to the publication's "10 Best" list. The Honda Accord and Hybrid were named to the list for the 33rd time -- a record -- while Civics were named to the list for the seventh.
For more than 30 years, Car and Driver magazine has awarded one of the more prestigious independent honors in the car business, the 10Best list. Vehicles who make it to the 10Best list are among the top in the industry. What makes the 2019 awards even more interesting is the fact that the Honda Accord has been named to receive the honor for the 33rd time. Since 1985, almost since the inception of the awards program, the Accord has appeared on the list. The honor likely makes the Accord the vehicle with the most wins in the program’s history.
10th Generation Accord Introduced Last Year
The 2019 Honda Accord is the 10th generation of the model. The Accord has redefined what the midsized mainstream sedan should be. The Accord boasts dramatic styling, a more sophisticated and spacious interior and two powerful, yet fuel-efficient turbocharged engines, plus a fuel-sipping two-motor hybrid powerplant. The “10Best” award covers the Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid.
Meantime, other Honda models have joined the Accord on a 10Best list. The 2018 Civic Hatchback Sport, Si and Type R have also been named to the list. Interestingly, the Civic is also a repeat winner. The Civic is now a seven-time winner of a “10Best” award. You will find more information on the Accord and Civic in the January edition of the publication.
In case you are wondering how a 2018 model could appear on this year’s list, it is simple. As long as the vehicle is for sale in 2018 and continues on sale in the new model year, it is eligible for the honor. Civic qualified in this category.
