VW was caught in the act of moving its T-Roc around recently. The spy photos clearly show the direction VW is planning in its compact crossover space.
With all of the new vehicles moving around the globe lately as carmakers move their products into and out of New York City where the New York International Auto Show is about to open. And, while other automakers continue their to test vehicles that are slated to appear in 2018, 2019 or later, it’s little wonder that spy photographers have been able to take some great shots.
That’s why the 2019 Volkswagen T-Roc was caught in the wild recently. It was, said Automotive News, being loaded into a truck. As it loaded, the spies clicked away making their images. The images clearly showed the styling direction that VW might be planning to take in its small crossovers.
The T-Roc concept, introduced at the Geneva Auto Show last month, will be built on the VW’s flexible MQB platform. According to those who viewed the T-Roc, the compact crossover has a high roofline, which uses an aggressively raked rear hatch. The slope is far more aggressive than that used in the Tiguan. Indeed, the T-Roc also features more distinct chrome highlights.
Among other interesting styling hints, the T-Roc’s fascia is very modern, using a trapezoidal design with chrome trim. There is a single horizontal line splitting the grille. The design team is also planning front and rear LED lighting.
T-Roc is slated to appear in the U.S. as a 2019 model. It will also feature a variety of engines. For example, the base powerplant will be a 1.5-liter turbo four and a 2.0-liter turbo four. There are other naturally aspirated I-4 engines also planned. Planning also calls for a hybrid.
