U.S. ski and snowboard instructors have a deal with Volkswagen that will help these teaching professionals "get to the office" in snowy weather.
Volkswagen takes mobility seriously. The automaker has a wide variety of vehicles that can take you anywhere, to the mountains for a day of skiing, to a trail for a day of cross-country or to a ski lodge to meet friends. The brand-new 4Motion® all-wheel-drive Golf Alltrack is one of those vehicles.
New for 2017, the addition to the Golf family of cars is so well suited for getting places in the snow that the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Associaton of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) is using Alltracks to “get to the office.” Alltracks rely on VW’s proven all-wheel-drive 4Motion® system for traction in the snow.
"A Great Opportunity"
Volkswagen termed the collaboration between the instructors and the automaker “a great opportunity for Volkswagen to support the active lifestyles of its customers.” The comment came from Vinay Shahani, senior vice president, marketing, Volkswagen of America.
He continued that VW’s “vehicles are built to meet the needs of those who enjoy outdoor recreation all year-round and the Golf Alltrack – spacious, rugged and capable of handling a variety of terrains – will be a standout this winter.”
PSIA-AASI instructors are finding out first hand, in fact, just how good the Golf Alltracks can be as Volkswagen has provided nine Golf Alltracks for use by working instructors at resorts across the country. The vehicles will transport equipment and instructors all winter.
The instructor’s association is excited by the new support. “It is our privilege and pleasure to begin a long-lasting collaboration with Volkswagen to help provide support for the active and outdoor lifestyles of our members,” said Nicholas Herrin, chief exec of PSIA-AASI. “We’re thrilled to find a sponsoring Volkswagen whose automobiles will help our members get to the mountains and enjoy the outdoors.”
Herrin continued that every “winter, our members’ expertise and enthusiasm to teach others to ski and snowboard helps drive more people outside, to enjoy winter. Working with this industry leader allows us to provide professional pricing on a critical resource that can help many of our members are at their destinations to better serve their employers and their guests.”
Alltrack Yields All-Around Performance
The Alltrack has been developed to provide performance in a variety of conditions and on different road surfaces. The 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system facilitates this as does the Alltrack’s Hill Descent Control and exclusive “Off Road Mode. The Golf Alltrack features increased ground clearance for better handling in the backcountry.
PSIA-AASI is a network of more than 32,000 U.S. snow-sports instructional professionals. Its members teach, on average, 20 days a winter. The instructors teach traditional alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and telemark lessons, as well as an adaptive curriculum for disabled winter sports enthusiasts
