The U.S. News Best Cars for Families in 2011 has been released with Toyota and Honda each getting five picks, followed by Ford with three and Hyundai with one.
"Families are spending more time in their cars than ever and finding the right family car is complex and time-consuming," says Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars. "The Best Cars for Families Awards save parents time and anxiety by highlighting cars that are safe, comfortable and affordable over the long term."
Toyota was recognized for the Best Hybrid Car in the Prius, Best Midsize SUV with 2 Rows chose the Venza, Best Midsize SUV with 3 Rows picked the Highlander, Sequoia was selected the Best Affordable Large SUV and the Highland Hybrid took Best Hybrid SUV for Families.
Honda took honors for Best Subcompact and Best Hatchback both with the Fit, Best Compact in the Civic, while the CR-V was named Best Compact SUV and the Odyssey was designated the Best Minivan for Families.
The Ford Fusion was named Best Midsize Car, followed by the Taurus’ recognition as the Best Affordable Large Car and the Ford Explorer’s pick as the Best Off-Road SUV for Families.
The Hyundai Elantra Touring rounded out the list as theBest Wagon for Families.
