See what is upcoming for the 2021 Toyota Tundra. New grades offer style and utility, plus more.
The 2021 model year in the Toyota world will bring with it many updates, new trim level introductions, new models like the captivating RAV4 Prime, and even the return of Venza.
Yesterday I wrote a Torque News story detailing changes coming to the 2021 4Runner. Before that I discussed 2021 Camry updates.
Today it is time to tackle the Tundra so we can learn what is new.
2021 Toyota Tundra Review
Toyota Tundra has built a solid reputation over the past two decades. Owners know they can count on their Tundra trucks for long-term reliability and dependability.
Look for the continuation of the trusty 5.7-liter V8 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission powertrain combo. This produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. torque.
While this is not a full vehicle redesign year, 2021 Tundra will offer two new special editions for buyers, along with new color schemes.
New Colors for 2021 Tundra
Wind Chill Pearl recently became popular on Toyota Camry sedans. Now, for 2021, buyers can look for this color option on Limited, 1794 and Platinum trim levels.
Sorry Voodoo Blue fans. This cool and in-your-face color, a TRD Pro exclusive choice for 2019 Toyota trucks and SUVs, has been taken off the Tundra menu for 2021.
Lunar Rock is now the chosen one, at least if you are a fan of Tundra TRD Pro. The 2021 Tacoma, 2021 Tundra, 2021 4Runner and 2021 Sequoia all feature this as their TRD Pro color. Lunar Rock carries on the tradition formerly graced by Army Green, Voodoo Blue, Cavalry Blue, Quicksand, Cement and Inferno orange.
Tundra Trail
There is a convoy of new Trail Special Editions coming to the Toyota lineup for 2021. You will have it with 4Runner. You can certainly catch it with Tacoma. And yes, you will be seeing it on Toyota Tundra as well.
For those people who have asked for more storage and utility, and who want to utilize their trucks for recreational use to the fullest, the Trail may be one to consider.
The 2021 Toyota Tundra Trail Special Edition is based on an SR5 CrewMax cab configuration. This is available in either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
It will also come with the SR5 Upgrade Package, which has a 38-gallon fuel tank, front center console with front bucket seats and power lumbar driver’s seat, three cup holders, anti-theft system, and tilt/telescope steering wheel.
Expect your 2021 Tundra Trail Special Edition to feature the same chrome front grille as 1794 Edition, along with special edition wheels.
Black seats with tan stitching, all weather floor mats, cooler, lockable storage with drain plug complete this unique look.
2021 Tundra Nightshade
Unlike the 2021 Tundra Trail Special Edition, the Tundra Nightshade grade is formed from the luxurious Limited trim level. Expect similar features, buttons and controls that are found in Tundra Limited, but with a dark atmosphere to go along with it. It will be offered in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, providing versatility for potential buyers.
Tundra Nightshade, like the popular 4Runner Nightshade, will feature darkened accents throughout both the exterior and interior. Look for black leather seating to set the mood inside the cabin.
Exterior highlights include unique 20-inch black wheels. Also look for 2021 Tundra Nightshade with a darkened chrome grille, as well as black door handles, side mirror caps and exhaust tip.
Welcome to the Nightshade family, Tundra.
2021 Toyota Tundra Pricing
People interested in buying a 2021 Tundra will be happy there is only a small price increase from last year.
Most Tundra grades only went up around $100 this year, which is surprising compared to many vehicles across all brands. For example, a 2020 Tundra TRD Pro was $52,930. This year it moves slightly to $53,050.
The range of Tundra pricing as you move from entry level to luxury is astounding to me. You literally could choose a 2021 Tundra anywhere from $33,000 to $53,000.
What Tundra grade would you pick?
What do you think of the new editions and color changes coming to the 2021 Toyota Tundra? Will you be looking for a new full-size truck in the near future, and is Tundra on your radar?
New 2021 Tundra trucks should begin reaching your local dealerships later this Summer.
